What You'll do
What’s this event all about?
This will be an interactive event for teams that are looking to cover the following topics:
- Bias thinking - and how to prevent it
- Stereotypes - what they are and their effects
- Objectivity and subjectivity - and finding the middle ground
The event uses an interactive approach to explore strategies for maximising conscious reflection as a tool for decision-making.
Who can take this class?
Groups interested in improving decision-making skills, understanding stereotypes and cognitive bias.
Why should we take this class?
The changing world social, demographic, and cultural dynamics have necessitated a review of how we make decisions and reach conclusions. The understanding and management of cognitive bias are, therefore, crucial for maximising productivity and contributing to socio- and communal harmony. This event is designed to equip participants with skills that account for diversity and facilities decision making through:
- thought-analysis and organisation
- exploration of conscious self-reflection
How is the event structured?
After a brief introduction and outline of the workshop, we will cover stereotypes as well as objectivity and subjectivity, analysing what these words mean and how they affect decision making. After a short break, we will then continue with a quick group exercise and take a look at cognitive bias, in particular, conscious and unconscious bias as well as unconscious bias. The workshop will end with a Q&A session.
